Ally: For so long I’ve avoided the lure of shopping online. So. Long. In the last five years, the only thing I have purchased online has been bathing suits from Victoria’s Secret (not bad deals, FYI).

Now though, now, I barely leave my house/office except for client meetings and visits to our friendly neighbourhood health clinic. This winter has been Baby G’s first in daycare, and he’s bringing home every known illness. So, I work and I get sick. In that order. And I don’t get to shop. Which is devastating.

This might change. I have just allowed myself to discover Beyond the Rack. Um. Oh-Em-Gee. In good news (for my husband), I have yet to buy anything, but I load up my “cart” to make myself feel as though I am purchasing. It’s so much fun. Designer shoes! For like, 75 per cent off!! I even looked at Paris Hilton’s shitty shoe line. L-A will be pleased that even in my sinus infected drugged state I resisted the urge to buy starlet “designed” apparel.

Anyway, I feel like online shopping might sustain me until we rid ourselves of daycaritis. Already I’ve purchased an adorable red skirt from Forever21 (it promised to work in both summer and winter, and I think it will!)

It doesn’t look exactly like the above, but it’s close, and both are Forever 21 (which is a cheap brand I love. Don’t hate the player, hate the game).

So! Anyone have any other fun online sites for me to hit up?! Dish!

L-A: I can’t make fun of you for looking at Paris Hilton’s shoes. Well, I can. But I own Jessica Simpson shoes, so it would be kind of lame of me.

However, I LOVE online shopping. If I can’t be browsing cute little stores downtown, then I am all over online shopping. I like it because I can easily pretend that I can afford it. And I don’t feel guilty for not buying anything when I close the tab on my browser. And that’s usually how my online shopping ends these days (although I have promised my visa that I will take it on a online shopping trip again soon).

So where do I online window shop? I love Gilt and Ideeli. They make everything so affordable! I get to say things like: That Chanel bag is totally on sale!  It is a bargain! And pretend that my landlord would totally understand if I explained that to him when the rent cheque bounces.

Honestly though, they do often have sales that are in the realm of the affordable to people with jobs. The downside to Gilt and Ideeli is they don’t ship to Canada/sell to folks without American credit cards. wonh wonh to them. Because there have been times when both J.Lau and I have come close to making use of my parents’ American shipping address, only to be turned down for having Canadian credit. Total sadfaces.

I’m currently flirting with the online shopping at SeenOn.

Pretty much the same as the other two, with the twist that it’s selling you what you’ve seen on your favourite TV show or whatever.  As long as they bring me a vintage Chanel jewelery sale that I can’t afford (and they are. On Monday), then I’m a happy girl. Especially as they ship to Canada, so I can really pretend that I’m going to buy something with my pretend fabulous job that gives me pretend fat paycheques. My rich fantasy life is full of kittens, rainbows, cupcakes with icing made of real butter (yet don’t go to your hips), and never ending fabulous shopping sprees.

When I’m not checking out these designer sales, my recent favourite online windows to shop from are Anthropologie, Kate Spade, and with the addition of these shoes, Free People:

the pretty is killing me softly

While they all ship to Canada, bonus points go to Free People and Anthropologie for giving you the prices in Canadian dollars. Any site that saves me from doing the math is aces in my books. Aces.

    Hautelook dot com

I got my Gucci sunglasses there for 75% off. The deals are great, and range from really high end designer, to just nice clothes you can’t get here. There is also a kid and home section which is nice if you ever feel like shopping for someone beside yourself. I never get that urge myself….

I’m not sure why, but I always forget about Hautelook. I wonder if it’s possible to overdose on these designer discount sites. I get regular emails from Gilt, Ideeli, SeenOn and Swirl by Daily Candy…and I may be getting fatigue from trying to keep them all straight.

I bought awesome shoes from Steve Madden (www.stevemadden.com) and I can’t wait until they arrive. They are so bomb!
